  1. An anchovy is a small fish of the herring
  2. family. It is fished extensively, being
  3. abundant in the Mediterranean, and is also
  4. found on the Atlantic coast of Europe and
  5. in the Black Sea. It grows to a size of 
  6. 20cm (8in). It is processed into fish 
  7. pastes and essences, and used as a garnish,
  8. rather than eaten fresh.
